              **********************************************

Sweet Jessie didn’t have the best start to her life.  She was kept in a crate for most of her first year of life with little human interaction.  Jessie was taken in by a small, rural Louisiana shelter and then moved to foster care through PAWS of NE LA to help her get adoption ready.  She is now looking for her forever home up north thanks to The Chi Society.  Jessie is approximately 18 months old and weighs 20#.  She is a Schnauzer mix with an adorable wirey, low shedding coat.  Jessie’s foster mom says, “Jessie is housetrained, walks nicely on leash, and is learning “sit”.  Since Jessie spent the first year of her life in a crate, she is kept in my laundry room with a baby gate when I am away.  She adores other dogs and would likely prefer to be in a home with another dog that can help show her the way.  She is initially shy with strangers but will warm up if they get down on her level, and especially if they have treats!  She has come so far in the few weeks I have had her, and I expect her to become more and more social as her confidence grows. I do think the noises that are associated with small children would frighten her at this point.  Jessie would fit right in with an active family or a laid back family…. She is a great combination of playful and cuddly.  She loves to run around outside chasing the leaves or her foster brother. She also loves to snuggle up close to her human for a nap, the closer the better.  Her heart is so big and once you earn her trust, she has so much love to give.”  Please email us at [email protected] to apply for Jessie...:)

Jessie is spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative and current on vaccinations, deworming and heartworm/flea prevention.

All of our dogs are spayed/ neutered before adoption. Adult dogs have had their core vaccines---parvo, distemper, bordatella, and rabies, All dogs are tested and are heartworm negative.  In addition they have been de-wormed and kept on heartworm prevention and flea prevention while in foster care. Most dogs come with a micr-chip already implanted. Adoption fees range from 235.00- 275.00 depending on the dog. Many times the adoption fee does not even cover the cost of all of the vetting we have done for a dog.   In addition, some of our dogs are fostered in the South and come up once adopted---There is an additional transport fee for these dogs.  Please contact the person listed in the bio for more information on a particular dog. We are very careful in placing our dogs--and look for the best home for each dog--All of our dogs are fostered in private homes, with fosters who get to know the dogs and know the types of home that would be best for each dog. Thank you for considering a rescued pet and we look forward to helping you find a great dog match--
